Winter Warmer Ride on 15 March

The next ride is on Sunday 15 March from The Green in Meriden at 2 pm. The ride is 9 miles along route S5. We will be riding the route in reverse direction and there will be a pub stop for about 30 minutes at the Queen's Head. One of the hillier "S" routes but a very pleasant ride on quiet country lanes.

Winter Warmer Ride on Sunday 22 February

Leaving Bentley Heath Park car park at 2 pm, this 16 mile ride will follow Route M2 via the attractive Tapster Valley and with a 30 minute pub refreshment stop. The ride will finish 4.45 to 5 pm. Everybody welcome - just turn up!

Saturday Stretcher CANCELLED

Due to the present weather conditions the ride on Saturday 7 February has been cancelled. There is considerable snow and ice on minor roads and this is very unlikley to have thawed by Saturday. The next Cyclesolihull ride is on Sunday 22 February at 2 pm from Bentley Heath. More details at www.cyclesolihull.org.uk

Saturday Stretcher 7 February 2009

The next Saturday Stretcher is on 7th January starting from Brueton Park Car Park at 10.00. This is a longer 20-25 mile ride with a route that is decided on the day. Although the ride is not particularly fast it naturally tends to attract riders who are fitter so if you are new to Cyclesolihull rides we recommend trying a shorter ride first.

The next Cyclesolihull ride will start from Dickens Heath library at 1.30 pm. It is a gentle 9 mile ride via Tanworth in Arden with a refreshment stop at the Earlswood Craft Centre. Everybody welcome!

Saturday Stretcher Ride on 3rd January 2009

Start the New Year with the first Saturday Stretcher ride of 2009. As usual the ride will start from the Brueton Park car park (Warwick Road) at 10.00. The ride will be 20-25 miles with the route being decided on the day. Saturday Stretcher Rides take place on the first Saturday of every month.

Xmas Special Ride on Sunday 28 December

This special 12 mile ride enjoyed dry, bright and still weather which, at this time of year, inevitably meant it was a little bit cold. A total of 31 riders took part, starting from Bentley Heath, Monkspath and Cheswick Green. There was a pub refreshment stop at the Railway in Dorridge and this was the last Cyclesolihull ride of 2008. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make the ride happen!

Welcome to the Cyclesolihull blog
This is an extension to the Cyclesolihull website http://www.cyclesolihull.org.uk/ and provides an opportunity to comment on and discuss Cyclesolihull rides and routes...and anything else of interest to cyclists in Solihull. As this is new and experimental it will no doubt develop over time but below we set out how it will work initially:

Posting & Comments

The site will have a number of initial posts covering the main areas of cyclesolihull activity. Anybody can comment on these posts as a means of starting a new discussion in that subject area. If a significant discussion develops we may open up a new posting on this subject. At present visitors will not be able to initiate a new posts but please contribute by means of 'comments' to any of the existing posts. Use the 'New Discusssion' post to introduce any subject that doesn't quite fit anywhere else.

Moderation

The site will be 'moderated' in that comments will be checked before posting. This is to prevent spam and other inappropriate postings. This means that comments will not appear immediately. We may reduce or remove moderation in the future or introduce direct postings for some regular contributors.

Blog Etiquette

We want Cyclesolihull to be as inclusive as possible, and our rides to be welcoming to all ages and types of cyclists. In keeping with this ethos we would like this blog to be also welcoming to visitors so any abusive or offensive content will not be posted.
